What happens during the first session?

The first consultation session serves as an introduction and a collaborative exploration of your situation. Its purpose is not to resolve all difficulties immediately, but rather to create a clearer understanding of what is currently happening and how therapy could be beneficial.

At the beginning of the session, we usually discuss the reasons why you have decided to seek help, as well as your current challenges and concerns. I will ask follow-up questions to better understand your situation, life context, and what you would like to change or explore more deeply.
We will also address practical matters—the frequency of therapy, the potential format of our work, and the terms of cooperation. Additionally, I will briefly explain how the process works specifically in gestalt therapy. This helps establish a clear and safe framework for the ongoing process.

The first session is also an opportunity for you to sense whether this therapeutic connection feels suitable and safe for us to continue working together.

How should I prepare for the first session?

No special preparation is required for the first therapy session—much more important than "preparing correctly" is allowing yourself to arrive with whatever is currently most relevant to you.

It can be helpful to briefly consider the following before the meeting:
- exactly what is causing the most difficulty or raising the most questions in your life right now;
- why you have decided to seek help at this specific time;
- what you would like therapy to provide or help you understand.

Some people also find it helpful to write down a few thoughts or situations, but this is completely optional—in therapy, you can talk without a pre-planned outline.

How often do I need to attend sessions?

The frequency of therapy is usually tailored to the individual's needs, the nature of the situation, and the goals of therapy.Most commonly, psychotherapy sessions take place once a week. This rhythm allows for the establishment of a stable therapeutic process, maintains continuity, and gradually deepens the understanding of oneself and one's relational patterns.
In some cases, particularly at the beginning of therapy or during crisis situations, more frequent meetings can be beneficial. Conversely, later on, as the process stabilizes, sessions may occur less frequently—for example, once every two weeks.

In couples therapy, the frequency is typically determined on an individual basis, taking into account the needs of both partners and the dynamics of their situation.
The most important factor is not a rigid schedule, but rather a regular and sufficiently stable rhythm of work that allows the therapeutic process to unfold.

How long does a course of psychotherapy last?

Psychotherapy is a deeper, long-term oriented process. Since the goal is to facilitate sustainable change rather than merely alleviate symptoms in the short term, the duration of the work is individual and depends on your goals and the complexity of your situation. This is something we gradually clarify throughout the course of our work.

How is the payment processed?

Payment for therapy sessions is typically made after each meeting or in accordance with a prior agreement.
Most commonly, the client makes the payment immediately after or before the session via bank transfer. In certain cases, an alternative mutually agreed-upon payment arrangement is also possible.

Detailed information regarding the fee, payment methods, and cancellation policy is discussed during the first consultation to ensure a clear and transparent agreement for our cooperation.
